It all goes back to a trip to Berlin in 2013 when Edouard (see photo) , founder of Mate Libre, discovered a German yerba mate drink presented to him by his friend Seb. It was a revelation. It had to exist in Montreal, across Canada, everywhere really! But it had to be done correctly and in accordance with our values: organic farming, using real yerba mate leaves (no extracts!), Low in sugar, absolutely no “natural” aromas or other laboratory creations, fair trade, but above all absolutely delicious! 



3 years of trial and error began in the kitchen of Edouard's apartment in Montreal, sourcing the world's finest ingredients. It would only stop when the taste was absolutely perfect and balanced. Here!
