AOR’s Inositol provides a high dose of this B-vitamin-like molecule to support mood balance and healthy cellular growth. Women with PCOS, especially those who have difficulty getting pregnant due to anovulation or have abnormal blood sugar and lipid levels can benefit from supplementing with inositol.
How Does It Work?
Inositol is a precursor to phosphatidylinositol, which is central to the phosphoinositide cycle. This cycle is essential to multiple brain signaling systems, delivering messages from a variety of hormones and neurotransmitters (brain messenger-molecules) from receptors on the nerve cell membrane to the inside of the cell. Research suggests that high doses of inositol can address the symptoms of various behavioural and compulsive disorders, particularly those related to mood imbalances and stress. Signaling systems dependent on the phosphoinositide system include neurotransmitters, which are key targets for antidepressant drugs. Research also shows promising effects of myo-inositol on improving reproductive, endocrine, and metabolic symptoms associated with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). In these studies, women with PCOS supplementing with inositol have improved androgen (testosterone) profiles, menstrual regularity, blood sugar balance, blood lipids, and lastly, ovulation which is key for improving fertility rates in women with PCOS. Lower doses of inositol can also support normal cell growth and differentiation, especially in combination with I-P-6 (inositol hexaphosphate or phytate).
AOR’s inositol supplements provide high doses of myo-inositol, the form of inositol that is most abundant in the diet. They are available in capsule and powder form for flexible dosing.
